Do YOU consider lip gloss to be make-up?

I'm 15 and don't put on make-up at all but I do use lip gloss. Some people say that's make-up and some people don't. What do you think?

Btw, I myself don't consider lip gloss to be make-up.Do YOU consider lip gloss to be make-up?
Considering the giant lip gloss displays at makeup counters in both department stores and drugstores, I would have to say that yes, lip gloss is makeup. It is used to give your lips a glossy, shiny look whether it's clear or not.

However, there are different extremes of lip glosses - some are so pigmented they can resemble lipstick, some are lightly pigmented, and some are the kind little kids use that are really closer to chapstick than anything else. I would have to agree with other people who have said chapstick is not makeup but lip gloss is because of what their functions are. Chapstick is designed to moisten lips so they don't become dry, and both men and women use it. Lip gloss, on the other hand, is specifically designed to make the lips shinier and therefore more noticeable.

Lol, so yes, lip gloss is makeup but who cares? Just wear what you feel like wearing :)Do YOU consider lip gloss to be make-up?
Absolutely! Shiny lips are NOT natural, are they?
I think that alone without anything else is sweet. It can. However would you consider petroleum jelly as makeup and it glosses your lips too
if it has color in it then ...yes ...it is make-up !
yes 'em.
Lip gloss - yes.

Chapstick - no.
no...I think lipgloss is an important part of me
Not really.
yes it is, seeing as the fact your lips arent naturally that shiny and your adding stuff to make them look prettier thats '; making up your lips';

and it definently is makeup.

:)

who cares if its makeup its cute
Lip gloss yes. Chapstick no. Big difference. Its a cosmetic. Thats why technically it is considered make up. I wear the regular strawberry chapstick. Thats not considered make up because its medical.
You don't wear make-up?! Awesome, I'm 14 and I absolutely despise make-up. Okay, not really, but I don't like wearing make-up. Lol. I don't consider lip gloss to be make-up... unless it's colored. Clear-ish lip gloss is just.. lip gloss. I treat it like lip balm.
lip gloss chap stick what is the difference? they both moisten your lips
yeah i would say that it could be considered a type of makeup, yes.
Nope... don't think of it as make-up.... agree w/u
I actually do consider lip gloss to be make-up. It enhances your lips by making them shiny so with the enhancement, you are using make-up.

It isn't a big deal though. So, you wear some lip gloss? No crime there.

Enjoy life and don't sweat the small stuff.
to me it is still make-up
yes, lipgloss is make up. anything you put on ur face to increase ur beauty is make up.
no.. even little girrlswear it.
yes..

then what do you consider lip gloss to be?

it's not like lip chap.. cause lip chap is to soften your lips.

lip GLOSS.. adds gloss to your lips.
i think lipgloss is under the huge umbrella of different kinds of makeup but i dont think of it as makeup. i think like lip stain and lip stick are makeup but i dont exactly consiter lip gloss makeup.

your 15 and you havnt started wearing any make up yet! i started when i was 10 or 11
Yeah
i think lipgloss is make up and chapstick is not.
While I don't personally consider lip gloss to be makeup, it is classified as makeup for FDA purposes, whereas lip balm is classified as a medical treatment.

Basically, look at the label and decide what the manufacturer claims it is to be used for:

How is a product's intended use established?

Intended use may be established in a number of ways. Among them are:

* Claims stated on the product labeling, in advertising, on the Internet, or in other promotional materials. Certain claims may cause a product to be considered a drug, even if the product is marketed as if it were a cosmetic. Such claims establish the product as a drug because the intended use is to treat or prevent disease or otherwise affect the structure or functions of the human body. Some examples are claims that products will restore hair growth, reduce cellulite, treat varicose veins, or revitalize cells.

* Consumer perception, which may be established through the product's reputation. This means asking why the consumer is buying it and what the consumer expects it to do.

* Ingredients that may cause a product to be considered a drug because they have a well known (to the public and industry) therapeutic use. An example is fluoride in toothpaste.

This principle also holds true for essential oils in fragrance products. A fragrance marketed for promoting attractiveness is a cosmetic. But a fragrance marketed with certain ';aromatherapy'; claims, such as assertions that the scent will help the consumer sleep or quit smoking, meets the definition of a drug because of its intended use.
yes, i think anything you put on your face is makeup....
Yes because its not natural...
make-up and lip gloss are both made from animal fat and are in the same catagory...so yes!
Of course it is, it's ';making-up'; the lips to have a glossy shine.

Therefore, it is make-up.
Anything you put on to improve your appearance that stays on all day is makeup. But it's not big makeup. It's like baby steps. Like clear mascara.
Lipgloss-yeah....but if you're talking about chapstick, nope
well kinda but if its clear than no
i personally do but i am a guy i dont know the stuff
